Quick release valve
A quick-release valve for commercial vehicles is generally a valve that allows for the rapid and easy interruption of the compressed air supply. It is often used in the compressed air system of commercial vehicles, particularly in relation to trailer or semitrailer couplings.
The quick-release valve is used to swiftly disconnect the compressed air connection between the towing vehicle and the trailer. When the vehicle uncouples from the trailer, the quick-release valve is activated to release the air pressure in the trailer's air system. This prevents air from remaining in the trailer system, thereby enabling a safe separation of the air lines between the towing vehicle and the trailer.
The valve typically operates through some form of quick-coupling mechanism that automatically opens when uncoupling the trailer, allowing the air pressure in the trailer to discharge.
Such a valve contributes to the safety and efficiency of the separation process between the towing vehicle and the trailer by reducing the need for manual steps to vent the trailer's system and consequently minimizing the risk of compressed air remaining in the trailer after uncoupling.
