The known problem: A reversing camera cannot be easily mounted on vehicles with rear doors. If you use a conventional body camera, you can align it downwards, but the rear of many vehicles runs slightly round upwards. A normal reversing camera would detect this curvature, thereby obscuring the trailer hitch, running board or bumper.
Luis' solution: The rear view camera has been integrated into the 3rd brake light glass of the VW Crafter. The camera allows a view beyond the curvature and captures the entire rear wall, bumpers and any attachments. This is the only way to make exact manoeuvring possible.
The powerful IR LEDs reliably penetrate the darkness and bring light into the vicinity of the rear section. The automatic white balance and in particular the automatic compensation of the backlight enable a good view even in demanding lighting conditions. Optimal conditions for accident-free driving and improvement of work efficiency.
